10 shopping hacks to shop in a budget - My secret guide to look good for less

Hey guys, today’s post is a bit different from usual. I wanted to bring some tips and tricks on how to shop in a budget but still look fashionable, trendy and expensive-looking.

Many people I meet, always ask about my clothes or accessories and where do I get them. Usually they assume am wearing expensive stuff but reality is, it’s not πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒ
I always make sure to find good pieces with less cost without compromising on the quality and design. Wanna know my secrets ;) let’s find out.

Where I buy them?

I shop most of my clothes and accessories in Lifestyle stores because I think it’s a great place for everyone’s budget. They have different brands in varying prices and the options are endless to choose from. Apart from that I buy some clothes online like Myntra , Ajio or rarely Koovs. They both have good collection especially ajio’s clothes are so on trend and fit me so perfectly.

When to buy them?

Now that you guys know where I buy my stuff, let me tell you the right time to shop there. When it comes to Lifestyle stores, they always have great offers going on all round the year but the one to look for especially is during 'Year End Sale'. One good thing about Year End Sale is, they have offers at flat 50% on all the brands. Isn’t that a great deal? That leaves us with many options.

The same goes with online shopping too. I purchased all the items in myntra and ajio during offers and bagged all of them for really cheap cost (not even more than 500rs). Okay, you hear about offer in a store or online shop. What you should do next? Let me give you some of my gyan to shop for less and still look like a star πŸ˜›πŸ˜›

10 commandments for shopping in a budget:

1. First and foremost thing to do during offers is, fix your budget. Yes, keep in mind. Even though offers are there, don’t let yourself loose and end up buying so much which eventually will cost more. I usually fix my budget of 2-2.5 k at the max and try to shop stuff within that. How to do that, you may ask? That leads to my next point.

2. Always look for items in flat 50% or above offer ranges. In lifestyle stores, they segregate items as per their offer percentage which makes us easy to identify the higher offer ranges.. This way you can cut down your expense to a great extent.( when you look for items in upto 50 % section make sure you check the tag for offer % as it may vary anywhere within 50%. In the end you don’t want to pick up something that has only 10% offer). Some of the brands that I buy from which are inexpensive during offer are fameforever, bossini, melange and Aurelia (even when not in offers). Especially if you want to buy kurtas or salwar sets, melange is a great brand to go for. They have great designs and good quality which lasts really long if maintained properly.

3. Always prioritize your items you want to buy. Even though, there are various items available in stores or online, figure out what you need the most. Try to look for stuff you don’t have already in your wardrobe. Lemme give you an example. During year end sale in lifestyle this year, all I wanted was a good handbag and that too within 1000 at the max. So when I went to stores I directly went to the bags section and started looking for a good handbag. Finally after a long search, I found a big metallic tote bag for just 750 rs. How amazing is that?😏 So once my priority was sorted out, then I just lounged around to find any other stuff in a relaxed way. This way your mind is eased when you buy something you want the most and that too when it ends up to be a great buy.

4. This applies to online shopping as well. Check for things you the need the most first and then look for random stuff. Once you find what you want and happy with the item, place the order immediately and then continue with the shopping. This is because during offers especially, all the cheap and great stuff tend to finish quickly. So even when you have added in the shopping cart, it might get sold out soon. So order the priority items and move on.

5. Another great way to find items quickly before getting sold out is to use filters. When you have a category or style in mind, for example you want a white shirt, then go to filter and choose shirt category and color as white and apply. This way you can save time and find the items much faster before someone else buys it.

6. In case you don’t have any priorities and just went to shopping, then what should you look for? This happens to most of us. Sometimes we randomly go to store without knowing about offers. Such cases look for basic and standard pieces like jeans, branded shoes, leather bags, Jackets and the like, that never goes out of style. Especially jeans is a great buy, as it’s useful all round the year and comes at great offers like flat 50%.

7. In case you like a dress so much but the size is not available or any other reason, make sure to check the same in the brand showroom. Almost all the brands available in lifestyle stores have separate showroom within the same mall. The showroom also will have the same offer as in the store or even better discounts. This is a great trick I discovered over the years and it has never failed me most times.

8. Even though the offers maybe endless, don’t buy something that is not good looking just for the sake of its cheap price. Always check for the material, design or damage if any before buying anything. Trial every dress you like because you may end up not liking it once you try it on. The fit might not be as expected. So don’t be lazy and buy it without trying even if it’s cheap, after all that’s your money too. Even if you buy one item, make sure if it’s worth the buy and you really love it.

9. If you are someone mad about shoes like me, definitely check out Inc.5 store during offers. They have really great varieties and pretty shoes for half the original cost when in offer. Most of my shoes are from Inc.5 and always get compliments on them. Some other brands where I buy affordable shoes are Max, Ginger and Bata. Below are few of my collections from Inc.5 that I got in sale for flat 50%. Especially the first one was only for 1000 rs and that too for a good golden heel, I cannot ask for moreπŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’› It goes well with different styles and instantly amps up any basic outfit.

10. I saved the best tip for last πŸ˜€πŸ˜€. Usually offers in stores or online go on for about a month or more and people always don’t end up finding great stuff. The reason being most of the good ones are taken within a week or less. So I always go for shopping within few days of the offer start. This way I always get best ones and perfect sizes as well. When it comes to online offers, buy within 2 or 3 days from the start of the offers as items tend to finish at a much faster rate in online stores. When you shop anywhere make sure to register your phone and email with the store and this way you will get notified of all the offers as and when. So there’s no excuse to miss out on them πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰

I hope you guys found all the tips useful. Remember always, whatever stuff you buy whether in original cost or discount, make sure if the item is worth the money your investing. When you find something worthy and you really love it, go ahead and buy it. Once in a while, that's perfectly alright to splurge in things you love πŸ’“
