10 Skincare mistakes to avoid for young and glowing skin
Hi everyone. Welcome to my blog, this is my first ever post
and am so excited to post this. I wanted to start with basics first that’s why
I have consolidated some of the skincare mistakes we all make externally and
how to get rid of them for good. So if you’re curious to know what are those
please continue reading.
1. Be a CTM addict
So are you all doing CTM on
regular basis? Or you don’t have a clue about it? Let me help you out. This is
a crucial skincare mistake and don’t let anymore time making it. If you
probably already don’t know what a CTM is, it is basically cleansing, toning
& moisturizing. When CTM is done on a regular basis definitely the skin
tends to be younger and much clearer. Also don’t skip the toner step which most
of us do (me included :P) This step is as important as your C&M, it helps
with open pores and removes all those extra dirt that was left over in
cleansing.
My recommendations for CTM
routine (suits all skin types)

2. Scrub it right
Let’s be real. We all want smooth
and baby soft skin, don’t we? Scrubbing helps us to get that dreamy smooth skin
we all die for, but the question is, are we doing it right? Scrubbing can
damage the skin and cause skin tear when done in wrong way. Most oily &
combo skin beauties suffer from whiteheads/blackheads, so they tend to use
scrub regularly. When buying a scrub make sure it has tiny beads instead of
scrubs that are very granulated since it can be harsh on the skin. For regular
use I would recommend using a mild scrub like Neutrogenablackhead eliminating scrub which has tiny beads yet keeps those pesky
whiteheads/blackheads at bay as it contains Salicylic acid.
3. Reflect those UV rays
Well to everyone reading this, Do you apply sunscreen daily?
Oops!! I could see more heads count than I anticipated. First of all, do not
underestimate the power of sunscreen (also the damages of UV rays), make it your
skin’s BFF. There is always a misconception that sunscreen prevents tanning,
which is a big NO. Sunscreen protects your skin from all those dullness,
pigmentation and wrinkles caused by the UV rays and necessarily not tanning. Choose
a sunscreen that is non-comdogenic as it does not clog the pores and make sure
it ensures broad spectrum protection. Try NeutrogenaUltraSheer Dry Touch Sunblock SPF 50+ which is non-comdogenic and suits all
skin types.
4. Keep eyes as cool as ice
Do you wake up with puffy eyes or have panda eyes? The
reason you know why, not using an eye cream on a daily basis. The skin around
our eyes is thinner than rest of our face which means it gets damaged at a much
faster rate. Use a good moisturizing eye cream on a daily basis to prevent
pigmentation and wrinkles around the eye area. Even if you’re someone who
doesn’t deal with any of these problems, still I would recommend you to use an
eye cream since prevention is always better than cure.
For all those new moms out there and those working with
computers all day long make sure to use a good eye cream twice daily to prevent
dark circles and puffiness around the eye. Try gel based eye cream like AromaMagic under eye gel which would be perfect for day time use as well.
5. Think before you pick
Most of us cannot stop picking on our zits, am I right? Personally,
I have did that lot of times myself, cause who wants a big zitty ghost on the
face. They are the worst nightmares ever. As hard it might be to control
picking, it’s still crucial to stop doing it already. When we pick on zits, the
bacteria in our hands might worsen it even more and also it leaves behind scars
which cannot be cured overnight. So think before you act on zits and always
refrain from touching them.
Quick tip: In such a situation apply a chunk of aloe gel
over the zit which soothes and heals it without making the skin dry which most
acne creams would do. The one I recommend is AromaTreasures Aloe vera gel which is great in clearing acne scars too and gives
a radiant glow. You can also keep a thin slice of cucumber over the zit before
you sleep and it magically wipes out your pimple overnight (trust me it works).
6. Quality over money
With increasing marketing tricks and gimmicks people tend to
buy some random products they see online without even researching about it. Do
not use any products or tools for the sake it’s cheap but that doesn’t mean
skincare is expensive. Always use trusty brand products and never compromise on
quality when it comes to skincare. If you’re someone who uses makeup on regular
basis then invest in good quality makeup products & brushes to avoid damage
of skin.
Even the cotton we use for the face should be of supreme quality
and do not use those cheap medical use cottons on face (I learned it hard way).
It is too harsh on skin and can age your skin with daily usage. Choose gentle facial
cotton like MasmiOrganic Cotton Make Up Removal Pads which is ideal for our delicate skin
7. Familiarize your skin
Have you ever asked this question to yourself, What is my
skin type? If not, it’s high time you do so. Most of us don’t even try to figure
out what skin type we fall under. When buying products always check the
description for what skin type it’s mentioned for. If you have Oily and acne
prone skin do not buy a product that reads for dry skin. Also if you’re unsure
about your skin type, then go ahead and check a dermat to get a clear idea
about your skin type and choose the products wisely. The right products always
brings the best out of your skin, so do not ignore its importance.
8. Have a pinky pout
Our lips are the most underrated part in the face since we
barely even care to notice it or show some TLC. This in turn leads to dry,
chapped and pigmented lips which is not cute. Try to scrub your lips at least
once a week and generously apply a lip balm or any oil to your lips before you
hit the sack daily. Particularly in colder months carry a hydrating lip balm in
your bag and apply it often to keep it well hydrated. Try the MaybellineNew York Baby Lips Bright Out Loud lip balm which moisturizes and gives a
pretty pinky tint as well. After all who doesn’t love a pinky pout?
9. Keep oil at bay
This is a common problem people with all skin types face. Oiliness
in face can lead to clogged pores, breakouts and can make the face look dull. I
have observed some people with oily skin use products that are too drying on
skin which gets rid of all the natural oils in face and in turn produces more oil.
I would suggest using mild and hydrating products that retain the natural oils
and moisture in the skin intact. The best way to control oil is to use lightweight
face oil like HamdardRoghan Badam Shirin Sweet Almond Oil as a moisturizer which will balance
the oiliness in the skin and make it more hydrated and plump.
If your still sceptical about using a oil on your face (especially
oily skin beauties), I would suggest to slather a layer of aloe vera gel after applying
the oil. This way your face won’t turn oily and the best part is, it doesn’t dry
out your skin either (Big Bonus!!!).
10. Shield the neck
Okay let’s get down to business. The last but also the
important skincare mistake we should avoid is missing out your neck (The
Precious). Whenever anything is applied on face make sure to bring down to the
neck as well. The neck is the area where it shows first sign of ageing and I
bet you do not want that, do you? Always cleanse neck properly and apply good
moisturizer and also SPF on a regular basis to prevent wrinkles and sagging of
the skin in neck. This will make sure the skin in the neck stays young and
firm.
I hope you all found this topic very helpful and am glad you
all like it. Let me know what post you want to see next. I am thinking like
skincare mistakes done internally or skincare routine to do next. Anyways I
want to know your suggestions, so don’t forget to comment or mail me your
thoughts. Also if you want review for any of the products I have mentioned,
please feel free to ask and I would be ready to do it for you guys J J
